why buy if i can make it?

why buy easter outfits for boys? they have white shirts and khakis already. they despise sweater vests, which deeply vexes their mother. so how do you dress up a boy for a holiday without completely emasculating him? purl bee has a super easy tutorial to make a little boys tie!!! it was seriously so easy, even i didn't mess it up. and don't they look super cute! oh and super manly. can't wait to make red polka dot ones for christmas. are polka dots effeminate?
on another crazy side note: not only is avery my physical clone, it seems she has also inherited my need to create. i found her dancing with her "superman prince" she stuck a golf club through the arms of a costume, and used the other club for his head. and then danced the night away.

isn't he handsome? i promise i'm not manhandling her, she was just averse to having prince charmings picture taken.

That's hilarious! What a cute little girl. I miss them. Cute ties too. I'm going to have to try those! Maggie, I don't think you COULD mess anything up, you're so crafty! I felt a little bad because I was talking to someone about the girls' dresses and they asked what I was doing for the boys :)...nothing. They don't care anyway, right?

You should come visit us in Montana. It's so much closer to Alaska :)

Oh yeah, and about the sickness in the kitchen incident...I would tell Mike he could laugh while HE was cleaning it up :) Just kidding. There's a time and a place for laughter...

How inventive Avery! I figure if you don't have a man it is alright to make one! Love the ties too! I may have to make a couple for my boy!

Seriously why don't boys like sweater vests?! I keep making the same mistake over and over again and buying one for Austin just to have arguments all morning about wearing it-the tie idea is great! Avery is hilarious-must take after her mama all the way around!

Love the ties Mags! So creative...and your sweet little Avery...yes a true Maggie clone. And I am LOVING the ice sculptures! I keep telling Quinn, we know enough people in Alaska, why haven't we made it there yet?
So fun!

GREAT ties!! I think I, the complete non-sewer, might give it a go. I hate buying them for each special holiday.

And that picture of Avery is HILARIOUS! How did she realize that Prince Charming would be more life-like if she inserted golf clubs? Smart!

the ties are great! I think Avery is just one of the funnest kids I know. She cracks me up. Her personality shines through. I'm still chuckling over the fact that she volunteered to be the map holder after picking up two pieces of trash today. She was even wearing Sam's gloves.

Who knew that Prince Charming was made of golf clubs and a superman costume? That is precious. And I love the tie idea...hmmm...I'll have to steal it if we ever have a boy. :)
