i've spotted this momma bear and her cubs in trees three times this week. i managed to get a pretty good shot of it today. this tree is no less than 400 yards from my house. mom and babies are eating about the only thing available during spring time in alaska.....budding leaves. hence, the incessant climbing. too cool.

I've been on the look out for them! No luck yet for me, Jon and the kids saw them yesterday.
That is so cool! Except for the part where you live close enough that you might inadvertently get between a momma bear and her cubs. But I guess not unless you were also climbing trees?
that.is.amazing! I feel like I miss SOO much of this living off post. I've seen 1 moose in the "wild" since I got here in January, and it was on the side of the freeway. Maybe I'll spend a day in my car on post just to catch a glimpse. But really, that is awesome.
oh my gosh call me asap next time you see them i would love to get a pic with my telephoto lens. seriously awesome!
That is amazing! I'm a little freaked out by bears, but I've never seen one in the "wild".
Oh wow, that is crazy!
I showed this to Todd and he said, "I wanna go live in Alaska!" LOL
Seriously, that is so cool. The only thing I see when I look out my window is a bird building a nest in my barbecue grill.
oh my gosh! i'm so scared of bears. i would not be able to sleep at night. but it is cool to see.
