Two Minutes

Were having leftover roast tonight, so I take it out of the fridge and push two minutes on the microwave, that oughtta do it. Turn to get Jace a cracker while he awaits his lovely pureed sweet potatoes, only to be jarred out of focus by and ear piercing scream.
Run to the living room, find 7 year old in tears, apparently his toes met up with a nasty case of stubbing. Give reassuring hug, and turn around to find 3 year old cheerfully decorating her arms with markers.
"Hey Mom," she says, " I'm going to color my ENTIRE body!" Take markers away with a quick lecture on how Heavenly Father likes us to keep our bodies just the way they are thankyouverymuch!
Gotta get Jace that cracker......hmmmm.....Hey Austin, where are you?
......"I'm bloody nosin' Mom"
Run to the bathroom to find 5 year old dripping said substance into toilet, apply wads of paper into nasal cavity and suddenly hear a shrill beep.
The roast beef!
Sheesh!!
The motherhood equivalant of the 4oo meters.
Two minutes can be very intense.

Ain't it the truth! Today I asked Sam why he drew on his legs with a marker. His repsonse was "I need stripes Mommy"

That is exactly how it can be. I however, sometimes forget where I started!! Awh, the beauty of motherhood.

You do write great. Whenever I'm going through my blog list to see if anyone's posted something new, I get the most excited when Maggie has because I know it will be good. You're great, and one day I will be as good of a mom as you are! By the way, that word verification thing...I ALWAYS fail. It's like I can't read letters or something. I always have to type it in twice. Why do they call it "word verification" anyway? It's never a WORD.

Oh, and Tyler totally misses Austin, too. The other day in the car, he and Hailey had two stuffed animals that they named "Austin" and "Quinton". I just laugh while I'm driving at the things they come up with. Did I tell you we bought a van :)

The fastest two minutes in motherhood huh? I'm sure that if I had a crazy day like that I probably wouldn't be around to tell about it, let alone write about it! I miss you and always look forward to seeing what's new at the Judi's!!

LOVE this!! So true and so typical! It's running from one child to the next all day long- making the rounds. And you of all people I can see juggling it so well and with such a good sense of humor!

You really are a great writer! I love that your two minutes made me very tired, and I was just reading it. Good luck with your brood. They seem like great kids.
