Help

Hello? .............is this thing on? where've ya'll gone? i know it's summer and all, i guess with all this glorious sunshine i'll forgive you. but let's not make it a habit. okay?

I need your help. you see i purchased this chair. not the most popular chair on the street. but she's got a sweet spirit. and she's in serious need of a make-over. here she is.

so let's see if a giveaway will help all you lurkers out there feel more comfortable acknowledging your presence. i'm talking to you rochester ny!
here's how it'll go down. just list a link to some fab fabric you've had your eye on, in the comments section. it's gotta go with the dark wood, (that i'm staining darker) but it's gotta look sorta barn chic. not shabby, just barn chic. does that even make sense? the person whose fabric i choose will be the recipient of a fabulous gift. a banner! you know those cute ones that say, happy b-day, merry christmas. i made a cute alphabet one for little j. you pick, i'll make one that says anything....as long as it's not: yay for the democrats!" or something like that.
I'm hoping one of you has some advice for me. I have NO idea what fabric will make this sorry seat into the fabulous eye catcher she was meant to be. any ideas?

Ok, Mags, I'm here to help ya. I tried to stick with things that met the "barn chic" criteria, not knowing what you have already and where exactly you're wanting to go, and tried to suggest things you might like.... So, here are some links:

super fun:

Here's a suggestion: Take a couple of photos of what you've got in your room, gather some paint/fabric samples (if available), head on down to the fabric store, and browse. Also, the ladies there at the store can usually help you pick something to coordinate.

Happy fabric hunting!

ps - I'm doing this for YOU, not for the banner. :-)

I don't have much of an idea what your existing decor looks like, but I stumbled across these in my search for upholstery fabric for my sofas. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I liked it!

There's also a version in green.

that is a super cool chair. I don't know if it should be changed :)

I love that one your prism friend called "super fun" and this is similar, but a little less expensive.

(I love Joel Dewberry fabrics.)

And this one:

I say it sort of tongue-in-cheek, but it could be AWESOME! I just did a little zebra print chair for my sewing room, and I love the touch of whimsy. I think you could totally rock the cow print.

And I AM doing this for the giveaway. I love your banners. (Well, I love you, and I hope your chair turns out cool as well.)

I'm kinda a sucker for damask fabrics...here are a few that might meet your criteria:

I'm also a sucker for toile which is totally barn chic:

or in black for a little more punch:

Its an accent chair so it can be a little more bold! You know you want some pizazz!

Oh, and I like how you have your friends do your shopping for you...I gotta try this!
Good luck!

Hey Mags. Love the chair...I can so see the potential! I don't really have any suggestions for you, but it looks like you have several to peruse already. I just wanted to let you know I still read your blog. Have a happy summer!

The chair should be left as is. I have no idea what barn chic is, but here is my suggestion if you are going to insist on changing the chair:

I wish I had some fabulous fabric choices cause that banner you make is adorable. What's your trick? I've been wanting to make one (or two or three) for a long while but don't know where to start. I love the chair. Make sure to post a before and after!

Wow, what a fun project! Okay so I know next to nothing about sewing and upholstery projects-wish I did, but you have to check out my friend's website. She designs fabric among other amazing creative things. Being the creative bug that you are I thought at least you would enjoy her site and if I am banner lucky maybe find something to make your chair chic!

Mags......check out my blog for specific fabric samples! Hope you like. I'm not sure what you have in your space already, but these would look rockin' on that chair for sure!

oh I don't know but I'm sure you'll find the perfect one. I love coming to your house to see the cute things you do. I can't wait to see the finished project.

I just looked up your friends suggestion of the saddle brown with circles and I really like that one.
